(Photo by Cris Esqueda/Golden Boy/Getty Images) | Getty Images Ryan Garcia will attempt to defend his WBC Welterweight title for the first time against England’s Conor Benn TONIGHT (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, in what is one of the most anticipated title fights of 2026. This is a collision of two of boxing’s brightest young stars, and there’s genuine bad blood here to boot. In his last appearance Garcia captured the belt by smashing Mario Barrios in a one-sided decision victory. The question with Garcia, of course, is whether or not he can perform at a high level consistently. Benn, meanwhile, is searching for his first title win. He’s riding high after two major decision victories over Regis Prograis and Chris Eubank. This will also be his second bout since leaving Matchroom and Eddie Hearn in favor of Zuffa Boxing. Benn presses forward and eats another left hook. Benn ducks the left and lands on the inside. Benn jabs the body. He’s pushing a serious pace right away. Garcia lands a pair of right hands but takes a body shot. Benn lands a combination on the guard then gets inside the guard with his next attempt. Good trade at the bell. 10-9 Garcia Round Two: Garcia lands first with an uppercut. A moment later, a right uppercut from Garcia wobbles the knees of his opponent. Benn weaves under a punch then comes up right into a HUGE right hand! Benn hits the canvas and he’s hurt badly! “King Ry” flurries and crashes into Benn, who tries to clinch to survive. He can’t hang on, however, and Garcia continues to throw power. The referee moves in and calls the fight! That’s it! Garcia secures his first title defense via knockout, but was it an early stoppage? Benn pressed him from the first bell, and he responded right away. He ran Benn into left hooks right away, but it was the right hand that sat down the Englishman. Once his opponent was hurt, Garcia didn’t hold back at all in forcing the finish. Neither man was fighting like they were considering the scorecards, but Garcia struck first!
