LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - SEPTEMBER 12: (L-R) Ryan Garcia punPhoto by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa Boxing via Getty Images | Zuffa Boxing via Getty Images Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn threw down last night (Sat., Sept. 12, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for “King Ry’s” WBC Welterweight strap in what was his first attempt to defend the title. Unfortunately for fight fans, it didn’t last long. From the jump, Benn came out the aggressor and was determined to be the one to dictate the pace of the fight. He had Garcia on his heels for a bit, but that was not bothering Garcia one bit since he loves to counter-strike. And he did that perfectly, clipping “The Destroyer” with a few left hooks to take the opening round. In round two, it was much of the same with Benn looking to be the aggressor early on but ate a nice uppercut that got his attention. After missing with his patented left hook, Garcia swiftly unloaded a massive right hand that clipped Benn right on the chin and dropped him like a bag of cement. Benn was able to answer the 10-count, but Garcia wasted little time in going in for the kill and started to unload one shot after another. To his credit, Benn was able to take some of them and avoid a few, but “King Ry’s” attack was just too much and the referee on duty ultimately stepped in to put an end to the punishment. With the win, not only did Garcia earn his first-ever title defense, but he put the rest of the division on blast that he won’t rely solely on his left hook, showing off his all-around striking attack that will give his foes more to gameplan for in the future. As Teo was making his way to the ring, security apparently wasn’t having it, which ultimately caused a semi-chaotic scene ringside as Lopez was determined to take part in a faceoff.
