Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Dame Helen Mirren at the premiere of MobLand season two on Thursday night Pierce Brosnan has played down reports of drama involving Tom Hardy behind the scenes of MobLand. The former James Bond star is currently on the promo trail for the second season of MobLand, with rumours earlier this year suggesting that Tom would not be back for the third, following supposed tension with members of the cast and crew on set. However, speaking to the Press Association at the premiere of season two – following the news that the Oscar nominee will, in fact, stay with MobLand – Pierce insisted: “Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really.” “I love the dude,” he enthused. “I love Tom Hardy. I’m a massive fan of the man’s work. Truly. “We are rock solid as a company, as a family. Everyone shows up for work, and everybody’s just there on the spot. It moves very fast – so it’s not like we go out and socialise and go to the pub or anything like that. Everyone goes home to their families and before you know it, you’ve done 10 episodes.” MobLand director Guy Ritchie with Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy in London earlier this week Similarly, Dame Helen Mirren had previously defended the Inception star, maintaining that she’d work with him again in a “heartbeat” despite their “different” creative “processes” on set. “I love Tom,” she beamed. “I think he’s the most amazing actor.” An official synopsis for the new season teases: “In season two, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.” Besides Tom, Pierce and Dame Helen, season two will introduce new characters played by the likes of Janet McTeer, Joanne Froggatt, Johnny Flynn, Mandeep Dhillon, Paddy Considine and Toby Jones. MobLand returns for season two on Paramount+ on Friday 18 September.
