Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Glendale, Arizona later TONIGHT (Sat., Sept. 12) to stage Noche UFC 4 inside Desert Diamond Arena. Headlining the Paramount+-streamed event will be a Featherweight fight between Jean Silva and Jose Delgado. After suffering the first loss of his UFC career against Diego Lopes via knockout (see it again here), Jean Silva was able to get back on track in his following bout by defeating Arnold Allen via unanimous decision. Currently ranked No. 6 in the Featherweight division, “Lord” is hoping to crash the Top 5 in order to get a little bit closer to a championship fight. He may be a bit of a wild card at times, but Silva is as dangerous (and entertaining) as they come as his first five wins inside the Octagon have come by way of stoppage. What he has to do, however, is make sure he can prove he can get a win over a high-ranked foe. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to do that in this fight because Delgado is not ranked at the moment. Silva was originally set to face Yair Rodriguez (No. 5) before “El Pantera” bowed out of the fight. Nevertheless, a win is of the utmost importance here for Silva. Delgado has a big opportunity on his hands after stepping in for Rodriguez to upset a Top 10-ranked foe, which will put him in the rankings right away. He is 4-1 so far in his young UFC career, with his lone loss coming at the hands of Nathaniel Wood a year ago. The 28 year-old has not exactly been causing waves, but he can create a big one by defeating Silva. Of his 12 wins, he does have 10 finishes so he is all about the action, as well. But to be able to upset someone like “Lord” you have to be near-perfect. Silva is on a mission for gold and is determined to not let anything get in his way, but of he overlooks Delgado for even a second it could turn into his worst nightmare. Original Card Vs. Actual Card/Injuries: The original main event was supposed to feature a thrilling showdown between Silva and Yair Rodriguez before “El Pantera” withdrew for unknown reasons. Kelvin Gastelum and Yousri Belgaroui were expected to throw down at this event before Gastelum pulled out and was replaced by Djorden Santos, who is just 1-2 under the UFC banner, while Belgaroui is 2-0. New Blood: Jessie Rosas and Sean King will open up the event in a battle of two UFC rookies. Rosas is 8-1 while King is undefeated at 6-0. Rosas — younger brother of Raul Rosas Jr. — was supposed to make his debut earlier this year before he was forced out. But after allegedly getting cut by the promotion, he is now set to make his debut against a man who is also looking to make a splash right away. How The ‘Prelims’ Look: Tim Elliott was making great strides toward a good ranking spot before running into Steve Erceg, who snapped his two-fight win streak earlier this year. But the longtime veteran has a good chance to put that all behind him if he can secure a win against the streaking Edgar Chairez, who has won three straight fights, two via first-round submission. Chairez was upset he didn’t get a main card slot since he is, after all, full-blooded Mexican. That said, he has a chance to make UFC matchmakers regret their decision here with a great performance and win. Rafa Garcia got off to a rocky start to his UFC career, losing his first two fights to go 4-4 in his first eight contests. Since then, however, he has won three in a row and is looking for his fourth when he goes up against Zhu Rong, who is 6-1 under the UFC umbrella with his lone loss coming against Chris Padilla. Regina Tarin was able to make an impression in her UFC debut earlier this year by defeating Ernesta Kareckaite, improving her record to 8-0. She will have a tougher time in her sophomore effort against longtime UFC veteran, J.J. Aldrich, who is 4-1 in her last five UFC bouts. Drakkar Klose has quietly been on a nice run over the last few years, going 5-1 over his last six which includes his most recent win against Edson Barboza. He will attempt to keep his run going against a man who is even hotter as Thomas Gantt is currently undefeated at 12-0, which includes scoring a second-round knockout win over Artur Minev earlier this year. Ignacio Bahamondes currently finds himself in a must-win situation after losing his last two fights. A third straight defeat would be horrible for him because he could very well get cut. He will face Muslim Salikhov, who is coming off a tough loss at the hands of Uros Medic, who knocked him out in just 63 seconds (see it again here). Salikhov also needs a win in the worst way in order for his confidence to not wither further away. Who Needs A Win Badly: Dan Ige needs a win because “100 Grand” — yes he changed his nickname from “50K” when UFC changed it’s bonus payouts — is currently on a two-fight losing streak and has lost four of his last five fights. If we take it back a bit further he is 4-8 in his last 12 outings. Should he lose to David Martinez, he could very well get cut. This fight is confusing as all heck because while Ige is struggling Martinez is riding high with 10 straight wins, which includes going 3-0 under the UFC banner. Interest Level: 7.5/10: Brandon Moreno has seen better days inside the Octaogn. The former UFC Flyweight champion of the world currently finds himself on a two-fight losing streak, losing four of his last six fights overall. As a result of his skid he has fallen out of the Top 5, and a championship fight will be harder to come by should he lose his third in a row. That is hard to fathom from a guy who at one point was sitting on top of the world. He won’t have a walk in the park against Joseph Morales, who is currently on a five-fight win streak, two under the UFC banner. This is his second stint with the promotion after he got his walking papers in 2018 after going just 1-3. Since coming back he won his first two fights via submission, and now he has the chance to lock down the biggest win of his career by upsetting “The Assassin Baby.” In a battle of two big men coming off defeats, Curtis Blaydes will battle Waldo Cortes-Acosta. Blaydes is currently ranked No. 6 in the division and was last seen getting the brakes beat off him by Josh Hokit at UFC 327 in an absolute bloodbath, dropping him to 2-3 in his last five fights. “Razor” hasn’t looked like the dominant force he was early on in his UFC career, but he has a chance to remind everyone what he can do here. As for Cortes-Acosta (No. 5), he had his three-fight win streak snapped by Alexander Volkov, slowing down his momentum. He can pick that right back up with an impressive win over Blaydes and put himself right back into the thick of things in a division the needs as many stars as it can get. The last time we saw Alexa Grasso, she was pulling off one of the greatest and most violent finishes we had ever seen, knocking out (and then submitting) Maycee Barber this past March (see it here). Of course, she can only be credited with one form of victory, and the result was booked as a knockout win for the Mexican-born star. The former women’s Flyweight champion of the world still has championship fight aspirations and a win over the No. 2 ranked fighter in the division will be a good way to get there. Speaking of which, Manon Fiorot is coming off a first-round knockout win of her own over Jasmine Jasudavicius (see it here), bringing her to 8-1 inside the Octagon. The winner of this fight could cement themselves as the No. 1 contender in a division that is out of whack at the moment. Tommy McMillen has been nothing short of impressive to start his UFC career, which is why he is getting a prime spot on the card, much to the chagrin of some. “Gun” has secured two first-round knockout wins under the UFC banner, improving his overall record to 11-0. He has the looks, skills and personality to make him a future star, following in the footsteps of his mentor, Sean O’Malley. McMillen has finished all but one of his foes so far, and he will attempt to lock down his third straight stoppage win against Marwan Rahiki, who is also undefeated at 9-0. “Freaky” has won all of his fights via stoppage, five in the very first round. He is off to great start in his UFC run, winning both of his fights by knockout. This fight has the makings of an all-out war. Enjoy the fights!
