In the run-up to Madras Day (August 22), a closer look at C.P. Koil Street in Mylapore that has a long association with goldsmiths. These traditional craftspersons specialising in the testing and making of jewellery with gold and other precious metals are trying to compensate for the reduced footfall of new customers caused by poor access on account of Metro Rail work on nearby corridors, namely Kutchery Road, Luz Church Road and RK Mutt Road.
