Maisie Williams in season seven of Game Of Thrones Former Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams has weighed in on the possibility of returning to the role of Arya Stark. At the beginning of this year, The Hollywood Reporter suggested that an idea for a Game Of Thrones follow-up film centring around Arya was in the “very early” stages of development. When asked about this speculation during a recent interview with The Guardian, however, Maisie made it clear that no one had been in touch with her about the supposed project. “I saw that, too! I was like, huh?” she admitted. Maisie then confessed she’s not even sure whether she’d be up for returning to the role that launched her career, which she last played in the final season of Game Of Thrones back in 2019. “She would have to be developed in some way because I feel like I’ve changed so much, and I feel like what people loved about Arya is that she was always a child doing things that were quite grown-up,” Maisie claimed. Following the infamously divisive Game Of Thrones finale, there’ve been numerous spin-offs of the hit fantasy series, including the hugely popular House Of The Dragon, the gear-shifting A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms and a new stage play, The Mad King, which will transfer to London’s West End in 2027. Kit Harington’s character, Jon Snow, was also tipped to be getting his own stand-alone series at one point, but these plans have since fallen through. Maisie, meanwhile, recently reunited with her former Game Of Thrones co-star Lena Headey in a new BBC audio drama, and is set to star alongside Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and Joey King in the long-awaited sequel to Practical Magic. Practical Magic 2 will arrive in cinemas on Friday 11 September. Read Maisie Williams’ full interview in The Guardian here.
