WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 06: (L-R) Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje face off on the South Lawn in front of the White House on May 06, 2026 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Scott Taetsch/Zuffa LLC) Ilia Topuria’s return to social media has been extremely effective. “El Matador” has made just three tweets on X (formerly Twitter) since his loss to Justin Gaethje in June, and it looks like those tweets may have locked him up an immediate rematch. Following Gaethje’s win over Topuria on the White House law, Justin made it clear that he had no interest in immediately rematching the Spanish sports star. And why would he? He just beat the champ up so badly that Topuria’s corner had to throw in the towel to save him from more damage. Three tweets later, and Gaethje wants to punch Topuria in the face again. “To all the clowns who’ve been talking s–t and counting me out this whole time, here I am,” Topuria wrote on X Tuesday. “Now let’s see who’s got the balls. Thanks to everyone for the support. Next time I’ll make sure they check Justin’s gloves so he doesn’t put anything weird on them.” Don’t bring my son into this . You being his friend has nothing to do with me and you. You know exactly why I said what I said. So don’t hide behind him. Fuck you still stands. — Ilia Topuria (@Topuriailia) September 17, 2026 That glove accusation clearly got Gaethje’s attention. “People don’t believe that, I’ve done that to everybody’s face that I fought,” Gaethje told a roving reporter at the airport. “Am I willing to [rematch him]? I just beat the s–t out of him, of course I would.” Topuria then took a run at Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz. “By the way Justin, f–k you,” Topuria tweeted. “And Ali, f–k you too.” “Welcome back Champ, I’m glad you are ok,” Abdelaziz responded. “I’m not gonna give you the F word back because your son is my friend and I cannot say bad words to his father, tell him I said what’s up he is the man.” “Don’t bring my son into this,” Topuria replied. “You being his friend has nothing to do with me and you. You know exactly why I said what I said. So don’t hide behind him. F–k you still stands.” With those three tweets, Topuria kicked up a lot of interest in an immediate rematch. He also threw down the gauntlet in front of Gaethje and Abdelaziz, insulting them directly and calling Gaethje’s win fraudulent. Now there’s no doubt as to who Topuria would rather face next. It’s clear he wants Justin Gaethje as soon as possible. Whether that’s a smart move or not remains to be seen.
