Count Binface is aiming to become MP for Clacton. Count Binface has told HuffPost UK he is “bin it to win it” as voters in Clacton go to the polls today to elect their new MP. The comic character will go head-to-head with Nigel Farage, who resigned as the constituency’s MP last month amid the ongoing controversy over his financial affairs. The Reform UK leader said he was the victim of a “witch hunt” after parliament’s standards commissioner launched an investigation into his failure to declare a £5 million gift from a crypto billionaire shortly before the 2024 general election. But his hopes of making it a “people versus the establishment” by-election were dashed when Labour, the Tories, the Lib Dems, Greens and even Restore Britain said they would not stand candidates. Instead, Farage’s main rival has been self-styled “intergalactic space warrior” Count Binface. Speaking exclusively to HuffPost UK just hours before polls opened at 7am on Thursday, he said: “I’ve been honoured to be a part of this election, and it’s been fantastic getting to know the people and landmarks of this wonderful part of the cosmos. “I didn’t expect to be given the mantle of His Majesty’s Official Opposition, at least not yet, but here we are. “And if Clacton wants a new local champion who will make their voices heard like never before, increase tourism and save the cost of another by-election, Vote Binface. “You can always vote for a ‘normal’ party next time. This is a free hit. Send a message they’ll never forget. Bin it to win it!” Farage, who won the seat with a majority of 8,500 in 2024, is expected to be re-elected comfortably, even though a poll found that the country at large wants Count Binface to beat him. If he does make it back to Westminster, the probe into his £5m gift will re-start, and could result in another by-election if he is found to have broken the rules on financial donations and is suspended from the Commons for longer than 10 days.
