On 25 September 1978, John Peel played Teenage Kicks, the debut single from The Undertones, on his Radio 1 evening show. Two minutes and 28 seconds later, in a brazen breach of BBC protocol, he played the same song for a second time, telling listeners “it doesn’t get much better than this”.
