(Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC) UFC Paris went down yesterday (Sat., Sept. 5, 2026) inside Accor Arena in Paris, France, which featured the long-awaited debut of Salahdine Parnasse, who knocked out Dan Hooker in the very first round with a devastating striking attack (see it here). The co-main event also ended with a knockout after Axel Sola stopped Fares Ziam with a devastating left hook in the opening frame, as well (highlights). Biggest Winner: Salahdine Parnasse After initially rejecting an offer from UFC two years ago, Parnasse finally made his long-awaited Octagon debut, and he did not disappoint. Indeed, the fighting Frenchman wowed the hometown crowd by absolutely steamrolling Hooker, a longtime veteran who is known for his toughness. It all started out with a sneaky liver kick that hurt “The Hangman,” who had no other choice but to buckle over in pain while eating one big shot after another that prompted the referee on duty to put an end to the fight. Just like that, Parnasse showed that the hype and wait was all worth it and might actually earn a spot in the Top 15 following his big win. He is a welcomed edition to the Lightweight division, and one can only salivate at all the matchups that await him. Runner (s) Up: Axel Sola and Losen Keita Sola pulled off a major upset win in devastating fashion by absolutely obliterating Fares Ziam with a big left hook. With the win, Sola secures his second straight win and hands Ziam his second straight defeat. Neither man was close to a top 15 ranking, but Sola is getting closer after every win, and now that he has improved to 3-1 inside the Octagon his confidence will only get stronger. He also goes home $100,000 richer. Also, in keeping with the theme of impressive and violent finishes, Keita was not about to be left out of the post-fight bonus award party, as he collected a $100,000 bonus check after obliterating Muhammadjon Naimov in the very first round (highlights). And the fact that he channeled his inner-Mark Hunt by doing it walk off style only made it that much sweeter. It’s a nice bounce-back win for “Black Panther” after losing his UFC debut earlier this year via razor-thin split decision. Biggest Loser: Dan Hooker and Trevor Peek While credit has to be given to Hooker for stepping up to the plate to welcome Parnasse to the Octagon, the fact remains that “Hangman” has now lost three straight fights. To make matters worse, he has been stopped in all three. Things aren’t looking too good for the 36 year-old Aussie, who will now be going back to the drawing board to see if he can correct his issues before it’s too late. Also, coming into the event Trevor Peek was our fighter “who needed a win the most” seeing as how he had been out of action for two years due to several injuries. Peek admitted that the downtime and injuries affected his psyche, and a win was of the utmost importance. But it was not to be as Kurtis Campbell latched on to an air-tight rear-naked choke that ended the fight in the very first round. With the loss, Peek has now dropped his last three fights with his last win coming in Oct. 2023.
