Pichan M Salim, a self-taught botanist, has identified over two thousand plant names. He discovered new species and recorded rare geographical plant records. Salim helped resolve a centuries-old mystery surrounding a vanished parasitic flowering plant. Two wild plant species are now named in his honor for his extensive work. His homestead also functions as a living seed bank for traditional varieties.
