Mauricio Ruffy is entering the biggest fight of his career when he takes on Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 331 this coming September and the Brazilian is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation. This includes wearing Chuck Liddell’s old “Iceman” shorts for a violent training session in the gym. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Tsarukyan will no longer be fighting “BMF” champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 331 and will instead meet Ruffy in the co-main event. Some have speculated that Oliveira’s removal was due to the recent passing of teammate and fellow UFC fighter, Allan Nascimento. It presents Ruffy with a tremendous opportunity to step in and try to knock off Tsarukyan, who is on a five-fight win streak dating back to 2022. Ruffy, who believes a win over Tsarukyan will lead to a UFC lightweight title shot, is pulling out all the stops in preparation for UFC 331. Earlier this week, Ruffy decided to wear some throwback shorts to pay homage to UFC legend Chuck Liddell. The “Iceman” shorts will forever be connected to Liddell and some of the most iconic finishes in Octagon history. Maybe Ruffy is trying to send a message to Tsarukyan ahead of their co-main event matchup. After all, Ruffy ends up knocking a pad out of the cage with a spinning back kick.
