England captain Joe Root won the toss and chose to bowl, with Ollie Robinson taking a wicket from the first ball and removing Shan Masood soon after. Pakistan slipped to 6-2 before rain interrupted play. Robinson finished with 2-12 as Pakistan reached 23-2 at lunch.
