Bruce and Rumer Willis in March 2013 Bruce Willis’s daughter Rumer has shared an emotional update on her father’s condition, following his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in 2023. In an Instagram video posted on Monday, Rumer – the daughter of Bruce and his first wife, Demi Moore – spoke candidly about how she misses the “version” of her father she once knew.. “I really miss my dad,” the actor and influencer said. “I miss a different version of who he was. There are some days that are just so hard.” She added: “’I try to prioritise being present with where he’s at now. The truth is, to be strong is learning to deal with both things at the same time.” View this post on Instagram The House Bunny actor also disclosed that she had recently undergone an APOE genetic test to assess herself for Alzheimer’s, because of her “family history”. She explained that her test indicated there was “some risk” of her developing the condition, but the results weren’t, in her words, too “crazy”. Rumer has spoken in recent months about the changes she has observed in her father since his diagnosis. During an appearance on the Inside Edit podcast in May, Rumer described the “tenderness” of her relationship with her famous dad, as well as opening up about his role as a grandfather. “I love getting to go over and see him,” she enthused. “I’m so grateful that I have a child that got to meet him because I don’t know if my sisters will have that. You know, who knows?” Rumer said: “Even though our time together is different now, I’m so grateful still that I have this time.” Bruce announced his retirement from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, a brain-related disorder which impacts a person’s ability to speak, write and communicate. In February 2023, his family disclosed that the condition had progressed, and the Die Hard actor had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Frontotemporal dementia impacts the front and sides of the brain, changing personality, behaviour and language. The Fifth Element star made a rare public appearance earlier this month, when he attended the wedding of his daughter Tallulah in Idaho. Vogue shared several photos on Instagram from Tallulah’s nuptials, including a sweet photo of Bruce embracing the bride.
