ADCC 2026 is in the books, and outside of that ugly brawl involving Gordon Ryan and an anticlimactic super-fight, the card saw a lot of submissions and created new stars. Eight first-time ADCC world champions were crowned in Krakow, Poland, while veteran Felipe Pena managed to take gold and further add to his Hall of Fame resume. Joslyn Molina may have also set an unbeatable record, becoming the youngest ADCC medalist in history. Duarte dethroned at 99 kg, injured in super-fight; Griffith wins miracle comeback Kaynan Duarte came in as the reigning double champion, and was looking to add to his decorated resume by competing in both the 99 kg division and the main event super-fight. Instead, he ended up suffering two tough losses. After going through an incredibly stacked division that had champions like Adam Wardzinski, Eoghan O’Flanaghan, Declan Moody, Daniel Schuardt and Achilles Rocha, Duarte and Luke Griffith met in the final. Duarte looked to be winning most of the exchanges, with takedowns and near pass and back take attempts. After being on the back foot for majority of the contest, Griffith eventually shook Duarte off his back then sprawled hard on a follow up takedown attempt. He immediately capitalized, taking the back and finishing with the choke to complete a shocking comeback. After taking silver in 2024, Griffith upset Duarte and won his first world title. It was a terrible and uneventful main event that was spent standing for over 20 minutes. Duarte got penalized for passivity, and the crowd was heavily booing the match. Things only got worse for Duarte as while the very first scramble of the match only happened in overtime, he also was immediately injured in the exchange. He couldn’t move his shoulder and immediately tapped to award Simoes the victory via injury. In his quest to add two more world titles to his resume, Duarte ended up losing twice and being part of one of the most uneventful and anticlimactic ADCC main events ever. View this post on Instagram Returning champs win: Pena wins ADCC 2026 absolute title, Vieira submits Galvao There were only two returning champs from ADCC 2024, but both of them still managed to leave with gold medals from ADCC 2026. Felipe Pena lost a close referee decision to Josh Saunders in the semi-finals of the +99 kg division, then refused to participate in the bronze medal match. He only cared about gold, and tried to remain fresh for the absolute division. That decision paid off, as he went on to rattle four more wins to win gold in the absolute tournament. Pena, one of the all-time greats, had six total victories for the evening, and became the first ever two-time ADCC absolute champion. View this post on Instagram The other returning champion was Ana Carolina Vieira, who not only successfully defended her ADCC title, but also avenged a loss at the same time. She met Sarah Galvao in the finals, and after a long stalemate on the feet, she capitalized on one mistake and submitted her with a rear naked choke in double overtime. Vieira is now a two-time ADCC world champ, and also avenged a previous loss to Galvao in CJI 2. The rest of the gold medalists were first time winners. All subs! Helena Crevar, Victor Hugo, Jasmine Rocha among 8 new ADCC champs Among the eight first-time ADCC champions that were crowned at ADCC 2026, three of them even had perfect runs. Helena Crevar, Victor Hugo and Jasmine Rocha not only won gold in their divisions, they all submitted every opponent they faced. The BJJ prodigy in Crevar moved up to heavyweight, and impressively became an ADCC world champion at just 19 years old. Apart from moving up to face bigger opponents, she won every bout by submission as she finished Anabel Lopez, Elizabeth Mitrovic and Matilda Reid to take gold at the +65 kg division. Crevar won Silver in the previous ADCC in 2024, and now becomes the youngest female grappler to win gold. A four-time world champion in the gi, Hugo has now won the most prestigious title in no gi as well. View this post on Instagram Like the other two, Jasmine Rocha was another new champion with a perfect submission rate, as the second-generation grappler won gold at 55 kg. She finished Anna Rodriguez with a late rear naked choke, and also had quality submission wins over bronze medalist Ana Mayordomo and Kanae Ikeda. Rocha competed in ADCC 2026 alongside her 44-year-old father Vagner Rocha, and brother Achilles Rocha, who placed fourth at 88 kg. 66 kg was arguably the most stacked bracket at ADCC 2026, and it’s where Kennedy Maciel won gold to follow the footsteps of his father, three-time ADCC champ Charles Cobrinha. He had the best run of his career, beating Gavin Corbe, Diego Pato, Fabricio Andrey and Kamil Wilk en-route to his first ADCC title. The other two first time ADCC champions are local Polish star Pawel Jaworski and Dagestan’s Magomed Dzharbaev, who won at 88 kg and 77 kg, respectively. The pair ended Europe’s drought of not having a male ADCC champ in the last 23 years. 14-year-old becomes youngest ever ADCC medalist; Filipino takes silver on short notice Outside of the new world champions, there were more records broken and history made in the event. At 55 kg, a 14-year-old girl has become the youngest ever ADCC medalist in history, which may just be a near unbeatable record. Joslyn Molina beat Injana Goodman and Mo Black, two adult black belts and ADCC trials champs, to take bronze at the 65 kg division. Molina only lost to pound-for-pound star and fellow BJJ prodigy Sarah Galvao by points. View this post on Instagram Gavin Corbe also deserves a lot of credit for his great run in the stacked 66 kg division, as he wasn’t even supposed to be in ADCC 2026. He beat three men, and put on a show in the close final against Maciel, ending up with silver despite only being in ADCC 2026 as a late replacement. Despite not having a training camp and coming into the event on just 11 days notice, Corbe made the most of his opportunity, and became first ever Filipino ADCC silver medalist.
